Hinckley owners’ heartfelt farewell as pub closes after an ‘incredible’ 7 years

Owners Tom and Jo, who spent many happy years behind the bar of the Tin Hat, said the venture had been ‘one hell of a journey’

The owners of a Leicestershire pub have bid a heartfelt farewell as they announced the closure of the venue after an ‘incredible’ seven years – but punters won’t have to wait long until it reopens.

Owners Tom and Jo, who spent many happy years behind the bar of The Tin Hat, in Trent Road, Hinckley, said the venture had been “one hell of a journey”.

They said: “Over the years, lifelong friendships have been forged within these walls – friendships that started over a drink, a game of pool, a meal or simply standing at the bar having a chat.

“We’ve shared special meals, Sunday lunches, Christmas dinners, celebrations and everything in between.

“We’ve watched people meet, fall in love, celebrate milestones, raise money for fantastic causes, remember those we’ve lost and simply enjoy being together.

“And that’s what The Tin Hat has always been about. People.”

Tom and Jo said when looking back over their time running the pub that it will be the moments shared with the customers that they remember.

While they did not share a reason for leaving they said they “regret a few things” but that they wouldn’t change the moments spent at the pub “for the world”.

They added: “We’ve had nights we’ll never forget and probably a few we’d rather not remember.

“But when we look back, it isn’t the problems we will remember – it won’t be the long hours. It won’t be the stressful days. It won’t be the things that went wrong.

“We’ll remember you.

“To all of you – thank you for making The Tin Hat what it was. It’s been one hell of a journey.

“We regret a few things but we wouldn’t change the memories for the world.

“Cheers to nearly seven incredible years. The beer may stop flowing for us, but the memories never will.”

Pub-goers have shared their well-wishes and gratitude to Tom, Jo and The Tin Hat team.

One customer said: “All the very best to you both. Thanks for all you’ve done for us.”

A second visitor added: “I will always hold great memories of The Tin Hat. We wish you all the best in whatever you go on to do. Not sure where I will go for a pint when we visit from Australia now!!”

Another resident said: “Thank you for everything including the memories! Good luck for the future and your next chapters. Will miss you all, but hope to see you soon on the drinking side of the bar.”

A fourth pub-goer added: “Not going to be the same without you.”

However, The Tin Hat won’t be closed for long. LeicestershireLive understands that the pub will reopen under new owners on Saturday, October 23.
