A building that is currently home to Hinckley town centre’s Greggs is up for sale – but customers don’t need to worry about being able to grab a sausage roll.
The chain itself is not being sold or closed; however, the building it occupies, 3-5 Castle Street, is on the market for £400,000.
The current Greggs will continue to operate inside the premises, as the sale relates solely to ownership of the building.
Whoever buys the property would become the landlord, while Greggs would continue operating its Castle Street shop.
The building was once home to much-loved greengrocer Caves, which closed in 2019 after more than 50 years in the town.
The listing is advertised through Prideview Group as a virtual freehold investment, with a 999-year lease.
Greggs has a 10-year lease on the unit, running from May 2025, and currently pays £30,000 a year in rent.
The on-the-go food spot previously operated smaller branches in Castle Street and one in the Britannia Shopping Centre, both of which have since permanently closed.
According to the property listing, the closures allowed the company to consolidate its operations at the current double-fronted ground-floor unit in Castle Street, which covers 1,574 square feet.
It adds that the location is in a prime town-centre position, close to Boots, Costa Coffee, and TJ Jones, other supermarkets and retailers.
