The pub will become the fifth to operate under the Beautiful Pubs Collective

New owners have taken on a historic Leicestershire pub which is set to reopen soon.
The Stamford Arms, the only pub in the village of Groby, is to be added to the Beautiful Pubs Collective’s group.
This will mark the independent local pub operator’s fifth venue, alongside The Forge Inn in Glenfield and three city centre locations; The Rutland & Derby Arms, The Old Horse and Knight & Garter.
Work is currently underway at The Stamford Arms, which benefitted from a £500,000 investment by Everards of Leicestershire just under one year ago.
The Grade II listed building will combine its warmth and familiarity with freshly-prepared food and an extensive drinks offer.
Alterations made are to be closely related to The Old Horse in the city’s London Road, which reopened in April following a £1.2 million investment.
Founder of the Beautiful Pubs Collective, Sam Hagger, said: “The opportunity to partner with Everards of Leicestershire on The Stamford Arms came together incredibly quickly, but having known the pub well and seen the desire from the local community for it to become a Beautiful Pub, it was an opportunity we simply couldn’t turn down.
“The building has character, history and some fantastic foundations following the significant investment made last year.
“Our focus over the coming days is not to reinvent The Stamford Arms, but to build upon what is already there and introduce the food, drink and hospitality standards that our guests have come to expect and that the Groby community deserves.
“The response to The Old Horse since reopening in April has been exceptional and has given us great confidence in this style of pub.
“We believe there is a real opportunity to bring many of the elements that have made The Old Horse so successful to Groby, whilst ensuring The Stamford Arms retains its own identity as a brilliant village pub.”
As part of the addition, the pub company has additionally secured the jobs of 40 existing colleagues at The Stamford Arms, who will now become part of the wider Beautiful Pubs team.
Mr Hagger added: “In addition to being delighted to welcome The Stamford Arms into our group, we are extremely excited to welcome an additional 40 colleagues into our team.

“There is already a team at The Stamford Arms who know the pub and its guests incredibly well, and we are looking forward to combining that knowledge and experience with the culture, development opportunities and support we have built across The Beautiful Pubs Collective.
“We have a very busy 10 days ahead of us, working alongside our new colleagues and partners to prepare the pub for reopening.
“We are incredibly excited to become part of the Groby community and look forward to welcoming both existing and new guests through the doors later this month.”
The pub will reopen on Friday, September 11. Further details are to be confirmed in due course regarding menus and the future of the pub.
