I Gave My Life for Mysaa: Rashmika Mandanna

Rashmika Mandanna says she pushed herself to an unprecedented level for Mysaa. Speaking at the teaser launch, the actress compared the experience with her earlier work in The Girlfriend.

“For The Girlfriend, whatever emotional output was required, I gave all of it to that film. But with Mysaa, I feel like I gave my actual life because of everything my director made me do,” she said.

Rashmika revealed that executing Mysaa’s action sequences was far more challenging than imagining them while reading the script.

“While reading the script, everything feels great because anything can happen in your imagination. But bringing it to reality takes a lot. They took us to a hilltop in Kerala and asked me to run at maximum speed. I was very scared,” she said.

The biggest challenge, however, came when she had to jump from Athirappilly Falls.

“I have a fear of heights. Even looking down from a height scares me. So going to a 90-foot waterfall and jumping from there meant I was literally shivering the whole day,” Rashmika recalled.

Her challenges did not stop there. She also had to perform an underwater fight sequence, spending several hours shooting underwater.

“I thought, ‘Okay, this will be easy because I know a bit of swimming.’ But shooting for eight hours a day and spending so much time underwater was another huge task,” she said.

The actress also opened up about a gruelling mud-fight sequence and the lengths director Rawindra Pulle went to in order to capture authentic action.

“They poured mud all over my body. When I tried to walk, I couldn’t even take a step,” she said.

Adding to the physical toll, Rashmika revealed that she suffered a hip tendon injury while shooting a dance sequence.

“While dancing, I injured my hip tendon. My doctor compared the scan to that of a football player,” she said.

The teaser has received a strong response, with Rashmika drawing praise for her intense and physically demanding portrayal in Mysaa.
