For workout lovers, both the earbuds and the compact charging case boast an IP54 rating for dust, sweat, and water resistance, meaning they can handle heavy rain and sweaty gym routines. Battery life is equally impressive, offering up to five hours of listening time on a single charge, with the USB-C charging case stretching total play time to 30 hours, Bristol Live reports.
Naturally, high-street rivals offer alternatives to suit varying budgets and fit preferences. At Argos, the Beats Solo Buds In-Ear True Wireless Earbuds are available for £79.95, boasting a sleek, ultra-compact design across six colourways: translucent red, purple, black, grey, cream, and ivory.

While more affordable than the AirPods, one Very customer did claim of the Apple in-ears: “Brilliant sound, better than Beats, charges really quickly. “.
For those who prefer an open-ear design that rests outside the ear canal, the premium Bose Ultra Open Bluetooth Earbuds (£159.95) present an excellent option. The speakers sit a short distance from the ear canal, letting wearers stay aware of their surroundings while still enjoying superior audio quality.
Turning back to the Apple AirPods 4, the product currently holds a strong 4.4-star rating on Very’s website from verified purchasers. One customer remarked: “Bought these for my son, he said they’re the best he’s ever had, and the charge is amazing.”
