As the nation prepares for the return of BBC’s Celebrity Traitors, Iceland has also been preparing its newest food range that people are going to certainly adore
BBC’s Celebrity Traitors is about to head into another season – and fans are excited. Once again, the line-up is stellar, and it truly means we’re entering the cosy months in the year where telly and snacks are certainly not optional.
That’s where the Iceland x The Traitors food range comes in, because the supermarket has made goodies which are perfect for parties, and while some of them are less than enjoyable, that’s what makes them so much fun! Set to air this week, the cast includes Amol Rajan, Bella Ramsey, James Acaster, James Blunt, Jerry Hall, Joanne McNally, Joe Lycett, Julie Hesmondhalgh, King Kenny, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Maya Jama, Michael Sheen, Miranda Hart, Myha’la, Professor Hannah Fry, Richard E. Grant, Rob Beckett, Romesh Ranganathan, Ross Kemp, Sebastian Croft, and Sharon Rooney, so there are some seriously big names to keep your eyes on.
But would you be brave enough to play some of the fun foodie games Iceland has in store? You could end up with something seriously spicy, or an utterly disgusting jellybean flavour.
I tried some of the range to let you know what’s worth giving a go, here’s what I think…
The Traitors: Chocolate Muffins 4 Pack, exclusive to Iceland – £4.50
This pack of muffins contains three chocolate muffins and one raspberry. To be fair, getting a raspberry muffin isn’t something I would complain about at all, but I suppose if they made it too gross, nobody would actually buy them… The filling inside the muffins was yummy, though, not bad at all for just over £1 a muffin.
The Traitors: The Round Table Jalapeno Wheel 12 Pack, exclusive to Iceland – £5.00
This is a fantastic idea, but because I love spicy food so much, I actually wish there were more of the hot ones! I doubt most people would feel the same, but…
The Traitors Jellybean Spinner Game – 100g, £2.50
This would be absolutely perfect for a party, because it just doesn’t get old. And it’s absolutely diabolical when you eat a jellybean, and it’s a disgusting flavour. The first one I tried was the curry, which tasted vile. My partner Joe also got caught out with the chilli flavour and was less than impressed, having to spit it out immediately.
If you’re having mates round for a knees up to celebrate the return of Celebrity Traitors, I’d definitely get one of these in. For £2.50, you literally cannot go wrong… unless you pick up a grim flavour of jellybean.
The Traitors Chew Bag – 120g, £1.50
I’m personally not a fan of chewy sweets, but these are fun in the sense that you either get a sweet filling or a sour one. And, of course, the first one I tried was sour, so it put me off even more.
Again, really fun to have with friends, but I’d probably be more inclined to go for the jellybean option, because it feels more like a ‘game’ than just picking something at random from a standard bag of sweets.
The Traitors: Death by Chocolate Brownies 2 Pack, exclusive to Iceland – £2.50
If you enjoy a chocolate brownie, then you’re guaranteed to love this. They are some of the gooiest brownies I’ve ever tried, and they have white chocolate pieces inside, which is a big thumbs up from me.
Iceland’s website says: “Chocolate brownie with white chocolate pieces and white chocolate with caramel pieces topped with chocolate flavour icing, milk and cocoa compound and a sugar paste decoration.”
