Presley Gerber died of a suspected overdose in a luxury rehab facility that boasts being located in a ‘prestigious northern section’ of Santa Monica but nearby neighbors in the ritzy enclave are not so enthused about sharing the same block.
On Sunday, it was announced that Presley, whose mother is supermodel Cindy Crawford and father is entrepreneur Rande Gerber, had died in a rehab facility following a years-long struggle with drugs, panic attacks and his mental health.
A 911 call had been made from the Resolutions Living facility where Presley was later found dead, and a witness later described the harrowing scene before airing their grievances over the increased tensions in the neighborhood surrounding the luxury treatment center.
The witness, a neighbor who lives two doors down from the facility, told the Daily Mail: ‘I saw the ambulance Sunday morning. It’s really sad, but it’s not the first time there have been ambulances here.
‘It’s a rehab facility, what do you expect? No one wanted a rehab, halfway-house on our block, but there was really nothing we could do about it.’
Resolutions Living is owned and founded by Dr Reza Nabavi, who also serves as the clinical director, as the neighbor had some rather unkind things to say about the physician and the rehab’s growth.

The neighbor said: ‘The guy who bought the property got it at a good price and then when the house next door went up for sale, he grabbed that one too. So now it’s two big houses next to each other. These are really nice houses.
‘I think he has at least seven beds in each house, if not more. He built a pickleball court in the second house, so now we hear the pickleball noise pretty much round the clock.’
As there are zoning rules and federal laws – including the Fair Housing Act (FHA) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) – which state that local governments cannot ban these facilities or create rules that discriminate against them, residents who live next to a rehab facility or sober living home cannot do much to prevent it.
The neighbor explained to the Daily Mail: ‘Since it’s a rehab, like a halfway house, there are laws that say you can’t discriminate, which is why they were allowed to create one here.
‘When the third house went on sale, I thought, oh no, this same guy is going to expand the rehab, and soon the whole block will be a rehab center.’
A halfway house is a transitional living residence that helps people adjust to normal life after leaving a restrictive environment like a prison, mental hospital, or addiction treatment center.
Despite the neighbor’s insistence, it differs from a rehab as halfway houses are usually overseen by a house manager or basic support staff while a rehab features doctors, nurses and licensed therapists on site and is highly structured with highly restrictive schedules including monitored medical detox.
The Daily Mail has reached out to Dr Reza Nabavi and representatives for Resolutions Home and has yet to hear back.

According to the Resolutions Home website, the home is ‘located in the prestigious northern section of the city, our beautiful three-story luxury property features breathtaking views of the ocean and city lights, while remaining nestled away in a safe and discreet neighborhood.’
In their mission statement, the co-ed facility aims to ‘provide the structure, recreational opportunities, life skills, vocational coaching, accountability, and community necessary to support men and women in their journey to recovery from mental health, addiction, and co-occurring disorders.’
The three-story luxury residence features spacious living quarters, outdoor seating areas, an in-home movie theater and a fitness gym.
The website boasts that residents will receive daily chef-prepared meals, fully stocked pantries, and says an on-site staff is there to support patients 24 hours a day so that they can focus primarily on working toward recovery.
There are also planned communal gatherings, including dinners, movie nights and other outings with fellow residents.
It remains uncertain how much Gerber was paying to stay at the facility, but according to Westwind Recovery, in premium coastal neighborhoods like Santa Monica and Malibu, luxury sober living costs generally range from $5,000 to more than $15,000 per month.
Gerber, who has been open about his decade-long drug addiction issues, had checked into the facility the night before he was pronounced dead from a suspected drug overdose, TMZ reported on Monday.

Hours later, a Santa Monica Police Department spokesperson confirmed to The Daily Mail that emergency services were called on Sunday morning to a luxury rehab facility Presley had been staying at – before he was pronounced dead at the scene.
‘On September 20, 2026, at approximately 9.35am, Santa Monica Police Department officers responded to a report of a possible overdose in the 1000 block of Berkeley Street. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male who was deceased,’ the statement read.
‘SMPD detectives are investigating the death as a suspected overdose. At this time, there is no indication of foul play. The investigation remains ongoing.’
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has not determined the official cause of death yet, but the autopsy was completed as of Monday morning, and Presley’s body was ready for release.
Per TMZ, Presley – whose sister is 25-year-old model and rising actress Kaia Gerber – had been staying in a separate house on the grounds of the LA rehab, and had roommates.
The Daily Mail has reached out to representatives for the Gerber family and has yet to hear back.
