The world created by director Nag Ashwin for Prabhas’ “Kalki 2898 AD” is set to expand on a much larger scale, with the highly anticipated sequel gearing up to begin its regular shoot in October.
Produced by Ashwini Dutt under the Vyjayanthi Movies banner, the sequel (Kalki 2) will see Prabhas reprise his role, while Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan are also set to return in prominent roles.
The first instalment emerged as a major blockbuster and received widespread acclaim, besides winning two National Awards. The success of the film has significantly raised expectations for the sequel.
With the stakes much higher, Nag Ashwin has been working extensively on the second chapter, developing its world, scale and narrative. The sequel is expected to be considerably bigger in terms of production and scope.
Prabhas and the other lead actors are expected to begin shooting their portions from next month. The team is planning an extensive shooting schedule, with Nag Ashwin aiming to complete the entire production by mid-2027.
