The British social media star travels the world trying to help endangered wildlife

Kyle Thomas is a British social media star who’s picked up more than 34 million TikTok followers for his posts about exotic animals, posts that – in his early years – also attracted criticism from animal rights activists. Kyle and his mum later attempted to run a zoo for exotic animals, an enterprise that collapsed in 2024, but now for his new YouTube channel Thomas is travelling the world talking to conservationists doing their best to preserve populations of giraffes, rhinos, cheetahs and hippos.
The 21-year-old’s first port of call is South Africa, where he learns more about pangolins – animals that have been roaming our planet for millions of years, but whose scales are now being targeted by poachers for use in Asian medicine. These armoured creatures are also incredibly endearing and have remarkably long tongues that, at around 40cm, help them scoop ants out of nests. Sadly, according to the expert Kyle meets, they could be extinct in 20 years – hopefully, films like this will help to raise awareness of their plight. Sixty episodes have been filmed, and the plan is for them to run weekly on the channel. (60 episodes)
