Liars will release new album ‘A Ban On Plastic Bag Bans’ next year.
The long-standing project is led by Angus Andrew, with Liars set to celebrate 20 years of seminal album ‘Drum’s Not Dead’ with two ambitious performances at Unsound Festival later this year.
The project takes a decisive forward step on new album ‘A Ban On Plastic Bag Bans’. Set to be released on March 5th, the album draws on a difficult and transformative period in Angus Andrew’s life.
The musician relocated to Kalamazoo, Michigan, with his wife and daughter, but soon after this a thick noxious odour surrounded their home and his daughter’s school. A local factory had released toxic hydrogen sulphide, among other pollutants at levels deemed so dangerous that the state health department advised residents to “stay indoors”.
The difficult campaign to hold the factory accountable sparked the album into being, and the impact it had on the songwriter shapes the work.
Out on March 5th 2027, Liars will play a special show at London’s Moth Club on October 20th.
