Macklemore, Out $1 Mil for Gaza Relief, Returns to Obscurity as Albums, Singles Drop Off iTunes After Two Week Return Run

And so, Macklemore’s ten minutes of fame is over.

The rapper — who caused a scandal by inflicting his politics on Ed Sheeran fans — returns to obscurity this week.

He was the ultimate loser in this saga. He got kicked off Ed Sheeran’s tour. He pledged $1 million to Gaza relief (which we’ll believe when we see the check.)

For a short time, Macklemore’s old records circa 2012 returned to the charts. His objectionable song, “Hinds Hall,” jumped to number 3 on iTunes.

But now “Hinds Hall” is number 67. Macklemore’s other songs from long ago are falling off the chart again, so are his albums.

Some people figured out that Macklemore’s biggest hit was about the right to be gay — which would be met with swift retribution in Gaza by Hamas. The rapper did not speak out about that part of the deal. (Interesting that that song, “Same Love,” did not have a chart revival.)

And so we move on, free of Macklemore, who should never been added to Ed Sheeran’s tour. He’s now welcome to book his own dates and promote his political views to anyone who wants to pay to hear them.
