A new restaurant and events space will be opening in the city centre in October

A Manchester city centre venue is set for a major relaunch next month with a new 450-capacity live music space as well as a pizza restaurant and bar.
New Century food hall, located near Victoria Train Station, submitted its plans to Manchester City Council in July in a report that stated the food hall was “not commercially viable”.
The M.E.N reported last week that the “struggling” food hall was set for a major revamp, and we can now confirm it will be reopening in October.

New Century Kitchen is launching In Hand, which is a new food concept set to open its doors on Friday, October 2, on the ground floor of the venue space. In Hand will offer pizza, chicken tenders, and sandos among more food options.
In Hand launches at New Century Kitchen alongside Locker, a new 450-capacity grassroots live music venue, set to open on the same night.
Formerly a food hall, the traders have left to make way for a single, focused food offering.
Matt Harvey, head of food and beverage at New Century, said: “The menu is built around what people actually want when they’re at a gig, something that tastes great, travels well and doesn’t slow you down.
“We’ve spent a lot of time getting the foundations right, from developing the dough recipe for the Detroit base through to the brining process for the chicken tenders.”
He added: “Every element has been thought about to ensure In Hand is comfort food done properly, and we think people are going to love it.”
New Century is based in the grade II-listed New Century Hall building. The venue reopened in 2022 after a £10m revamp of the 1963-dated building, which was first built for use as offices and a conference hall.
New Century sits in the NOMA area of central Manchester, part of the city where just a short distance away new apartment blocks have been built for growing numbers of people looking to call Manchester home.
