Miranda Lambert and Ella Langley Team Up for ‘Snakeskin Boots’ Collab

After co-writing “Choosin’ Texas” together, the vocalists team up for a duet on Lambert’s newly-released studio album, Crisco

Miranda Lambert and Ella Langley wear their best “Snakeskin Boots” to the country disco on their latest collaboration, which appears on Lambert’s newly-released studio album, Crisco.

“If the good all die young/She gon’ slip a hangman’s noose/Stealin’ diamonds/In her snakeskin boots,” the duo sings on the chorus. “If you ask her/How she shook the devil loose/Boy, I’m faster/In my snakeskin, snakeskin boots.”

“Snakeskin Boots” marks the latest collaboration from Lambert and Langley, who previously appeared together on “Butterfly Season” from Langley’s second album, Dandelion. Lambert and Langley produced the album together, with Lambert also serving as a co-writer on the history-making single “Choosin’ Texas.” The song recently became the longest-running Number One on the Billboard Hot 100.

“Ella stopped me on a red carpet at the ACMs probably five years ago and was like, I want to talk to you about producing my record. She doesn’t give you a choice. I mean that in the best way ever,” Lambert recently told the New York Times. “And so we started writing, rented a house outside of Nashville and stayed for two days, and ‘Choosin’ Texas’ was one of the songs we wrote. I just really loved that she was so strong in her vision. I saw so much of my 19-year-old self going to Nashville saying the same stuff.”

Crisco marks the 11th album from Lambert. “Much has been made of the project’s Seventies dance-floor sound — ‘Ain’t we mixin’ country and disco?’ she sings in the buttery title track, which she debuted onstage at the ACM Awards in May — but labeling Crisco as a disco album sells it short,” Rolling Stone said in a review of the record. “It’s not a stunt project, but, similar to what Dolly Parton did on 1978’s dance-ready Heartbreaker, another bold step forward for one of country music’s most adventurous artists.”
