Lioness may have been one of the biggest streaming hits on Paramount+ this summer, but a new well-deserved series has officially taken over the crown. Taylor Sheridan’s celebrated military action thriller recently released its season 3 finale, ending one of the most exciting seasons of television that Sheridan has ever produced. That said, Lioness – which features a star-studded cast led by Zoe Saldaña, Nicole Kidman, Morgan Freeman, and Michael Kelly – has still not been renewed for season 4 as it falls from Paramount+’s top viewership spot.
After Lioness dominated Paramount+’s worldwide streaming chart for the better part of August and September 2026, MobLand returns to take back its throne as the streamer’s most-watched show. With season 2 already off to a great start through two episodes, receiving an improved season 2 Rotten Tomatoes score of 90%, MobLand – starring Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren, and more – deserves the streaming crown it has just reclaimed and shows no signs of slowing down, with eight more episodes to be released later this year.
MobLand Season 2 Is Paramount+’s #1 Series Worldwide
MobLand season 2 is off to a ferocious start after finally winning the tug-of-war battle with Lioness as Paramount+’s most-watched series worldwide. After premiering on September 18, MobLand was finally able to dethrone Lioness following the Sheridan series’ season 2 finale on September 20. It seems that Paramount+ set up a calculated passing of the baton between two of its most popular series of all time, right at the bridge between summer and fall 2026. Still, Lioness remains in a close second place right on MobLand’s tail and still has the potential to take back its peak position.
MobLand season 2 places its key protagonist, Harry Da Soza, played by Tom Hardy, right in the middle of a complicated web where loyalties and pride will be tested. As usual, Harry is obligated to clean up the various messes of the London-based organized crime family, the Harrigans, who have a hand in just about every illicit drug and crime operation in the greater area. Similar to Lioness, MobLand is completely built on tension and has a great ensemble cast of supporting characters as well as a formidable and powerful villain who will stop at nothing to get what they want. While they appear different on the surface, MobLand is quietly a perfect show for Lioness fans.
MobLand Deserves The Crown After Overtaking Lioness
MobLand once again taking Paramount+’s #1 global spot is unsurprising, considering season 1’s 8.8 million viewers that it accrued in its first week, ultimately pulling in 26 million viewers for its entire season. The improved critical acclaim of MobLand season 2 is bound to help maintain or even increase its season 1 viewership, although official viewership numbers for season 2 have yet to be released. Due to the continued increase in viewership of Lioness between seasons 1 and 3, MobLand season 2 appears to be following a similar trajectory, even outpacing Lioness season 3, which earned 7.1 million views in its first seven days.
MobLand’s current streaming performance is also unsurprising because it genuinely produced two of the best episodes in the series’ history within its first two season 2 installments, earning IMDb scores of 8.2 and 8.4, respectively. One of the most notable differences between MobLand season 1 and 2 is how much the scale and stakes have escalated, taking the fights from the streets of London alone and expanding them as part of a global web of power and exploitation. With MobLand season 2 tracking to set a new high for the series in terms of story development and entertainment value, Tom Hardy’s #1 crime drama deserves to wear the Paramount+ streaming crown.
