Friendship Is Magic Comic Marks the Return of My Little Pony’s Best Era
BOOM! Studios just announced on its social media account that in November 2026, a brand-new comic series based on the Friendship Is Magic storyline and characters is on its way. In partnership with Hasbro and Penguin Random House, My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic #1 will be available on November 11, 2026.
With writing by Seanan McGuire, art by Amy Mebberson, and lettering by Jodie Troutman, the first My Little Pony comic was carefully designed to be true to the original 2010s animated series, while taking the familiar ponies on all-new adventures filled with laughter and heart. The description for the first comic reads:
“When a Pinkie Pie prank ends in birthday-cake disaster, one of Twilight Sparkle’s beloved books is destroyed… Now, the Mane Six must find another copy — one that Twilight believes could hold the secret to fixing broken friendships!”
The My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic series is centered on themes like kindness, loyalty, laughter, helping others, and most importantly, friendship. The story told in the upcoming comic aligns with those core values, portraying the Mane Six handling disasters together and strengthening their bonds with each other even in the midst of chaos.
Two My Little Pony Graphic Novels Are Also Set to Be Released in 2027
My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic #1 is one of multiple My Little Pony comic releases that are forthcoming. My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Book One and Book Two, which are graphic novels compiling multiple stories, will be released in January 2027 and May 2027, respectively. Both of these editions are written by Katie Cook and illustrated by Andy Price, and are currently available for preorder on Amazon and at numerous other bookstores and websites.
