Netflix just shared a huge list of production updates but not everyone are pleased about it

The news did not spark as much excitement as expected.
Netflix just casually confirmed the future of more than a dozen of its original titles but fans all spotted a similar issue with the announcement. The streamer is known for not always making the popular decision when it comes to its output of series.
It comes as the company have decided to cancel a number of high profile shows after just one season this year. This includes crime drama The Waterfront, western series The Abandons and sci-fi mystery thriller The Boroughs.
As a result, many fans have been concern over what it could mean for other series they have enjoyed. Yesterday, Netflix took to social media to list around a dozen or so titles that have either entered production for a new season or are about to very soon.
The announcement came after the latest trailer for The Gentlemen season 2 dropped with the news that a third has already been commissioned. However, no news about the rumours Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex could be joining the cast was confirmed or denied.
However, Netflix UK’s X account began a thread with several more updates. The post read: “Seeing as we’ve just confirmed season 3 of The Gentlemen, here’s an update on what’s happening with some of your other favourite returning Netflix series…”
This was quickly followed by the reveal that House of Guinness from Peaky Blinders’ creator Steven Knight is set to return. The 19th-century Dublin set period drama, inspired the history of the famous family will see them wrestle with ambition, intrigue and forbidden love.
Production is set to begin in early 2027. That is also the case for Neil Forsyth’s undercover customs thriller, which will also return for a second season. Although returning cast members such as Steve Coogan are yet to be confirmed.
Meanwhile, production for Black Mirror season 8 has already begun and Supacell season 2 has just wrapped. Supacell fans have been waiting more than two years for a follow up to the 100% rated series that followed five ordinary people who unexpectedly develop superpowers.
Spy thriller Black Doves starring Keira Knightley, Ben Whishaw and Sarah Lancashire is set to debut its second season later this year. Production is also underway for Bridgerton season 5 and expected to release next year.
The thread was wrapped up with quick confirmations that Wednesday season 3, Ginny & Georgia season 4, Emily In Paris season 6 and The Night Agent season 4 are all on the way too.
However, many fans were too distracted by the fact production for the likes of House of Guinness and Legends were not getting underway until next year. The expectation would be that a release date would not be possible until 2028.
It seems dedicated viewers believed that Netflix should have got everything in order much sooner. As a result, several fans are not happy about a potential extended wait for new episodes.
Some shared their thoughts, as they believe Netflix should have given the green light for more seasons much earlier. One person replied to the thread: “Production begins in 2027?? What the f***, the 2nd season should already be done.”
Another commented: “What do you meant IN PRODUCTION? I thought it was already in production by like months!”
Fans of Netflix’s output of reality series should be satisfied though as new seasons of Formula 1 Drive to Survive, Being Gordon Ramsay, At Home with the Furys and Love Is Blind UK are all expected to arrive in 2027.
