A brand new competition series has just arrived on Netflix but eager fans will face a wait for the finale

Fans binge-watching a new Netflix competition series may have realised the finale is missing.
Wonka’s The Golden Ticket arrived on the streaming giant today (September 23) with seven episodes available for fans to watch. The reality show sees 12 people stepping into a fantastical chocolate factory where they’re tasked with a series of challenges ranging from the physical to the moral.
As per Netflix’s synopsis: “In this high-stakes social experiment, players will journey through the factory’s wondrous and unpredictable landscape, adapting, strategizing, and withstanding the unknown while proving they have the instincts, resilience, and character to thrive in chaos. In the end, only one contestant will have what it takes to earn Wonka’s life-changing prize.”
The series even stars an actor who portrayed one of the Oompa Loompa’s in 1971’s Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Rusty Goffe. It also features the voice of the late Gene Wilder, recreated using AI, who famously portrayed the whimsical chocolatier in the same film adaptation of Roald Dahl’s beloved story.
While there are seven episodes of the contest currently available on the platform, there are actually nine in total that make up the series. So when can fans see those final instalments?
Episodes eight and nine will be released together on September 30 from 8am. It means fans face a week-long wait to see who wins the show and its eye-watering $3 million prize pot.

While the AI generated Gene Wilder voice has already proven controversial amongst viewers, the late actor’s family actually approved its use on the show.
Earlier this year, the star’s wife Karen Wilder released a statement on behalf of his estate that read: “Gene had a remarkable ability to bring humour, wonder and heart into people’s lives, and that connection has endured for generations.
“We are delighted that Wonka’s The Golden Ticket celebrates the warmth and imagination that he brought to the role, introducing that magic to a new generation while honouring the fans who have cherished it for decades.”
The first seven episodes of Wonka’s The Golden Ticket are now streaming on Netflix. The final two episodes will be released on September 30 from 8am.
