Sir Tom Jones won’t return to The Voice for future series’, and it’s caused viewers to express outrage. However, the new judges of the ITV talent show have since sparked mayhem after showing up somewhere unexpected.
Footage has gone viral on Instagram after the pair were filmed dancing in a UK bar, even though some have been left devastated by Tom Jones‘ exit. Even so, people who were present seemed absolutely stunned when they realised who they were, and it’s since got dozens of people talking as it seemed to cause mayhem at the venue.
It comes after Sir Tom released a lengthy statement about his exit from the show. He talked about how he “didn’t want to leave”.
Olly Waldron shared the clip with the caption: “JUST DJ’D FOR KELLY ROWLAND AND CHERYL @via_canal_street. Kind of glad you can’t see my reaction when they both looked at me during this moment! What a night!”
In the footage, The Voice UK judges Kelly Rowland and Cheryl can be seen dancing amongst the crowd, appearing to have an absolute ball as they showed off their moves to Kelly’s track “Commander”.
People gathered around them as they soaked up the atmosphere, and the reaction was overwhelmingly positive. However, things clearly got chaotic when the stars started to be recognised.
One person wrote: “Incredible.” Another remarked: “This is insane. What a moment for you.”
A third responded: “Stop. Why was I not there?”
Meanwhile, a fourth wrote: “Not on our bingo cards.” Another person also added: “This is iconic.”
Numerous viewers found the moment “insane” and were astonished by how things played out. The clip sparked discussion amongst thousands online.
This follows the announcement that Cheryl, 43, would be joining The Voice as a judge. However, while there’s considerable enthusiasm about Cheryl’s involvement in the programme, the show has also come under fire after legendary singer Sir Tom Jones was dropped from the coaching panel.
The revamped coaching line-up features long-standing coach will.i.am, alongside Kelly Rowland, who only recently joined, Aitch and Cheryl. Previously, Sir Tom disclosed that leaving the singing competition hadn’t been his decision, claiming there’s “never a good time to fire an 86-year-old”.
With Emma Willis’ departure to the BBC’s Strictly, the show has undergone significant changes, with Stacey Solomon and Alesha Dixon assuming presenting responsibilities.
Speaking about the decision to remove him, Sir Tom said: “To be clear, I did not want to leave The Voice as I love the show and really appreciate the audience. ITV made this decision – obviously a while ago, and I was just told recently.
“The reason given is because of a financial difficulty with insurance. They now say in the press they want to ‘refresh’ the show, and with a new coaching line-up there wouldn’t be a chair for me.
“They are offering a much-reduced role where I would make an appearance but without being actually involved from the start, and I’m not thrilled about that. So the only thing I know right now is that there’s never a good time to fire an 86-year-old who’s still pretty good at his job.”
ITV also released a statement saying: “ITV today reveals a brand new line-up for The Voice UK as Alesha Dixon and Stacey Solomon take the reins as hosts for Series 15. The famous red chairs will see the arrival of two musical forces making their debut as coaches.
“Platinum-selling rap artist Aitch and global pop icon Cheryl are set to begin their hunt for the nation’s next vocal powerhouse. These new additions will take their places alongside international superstar Kelly Rowland, who makes her highly anticipated return for a second series as a coach. They join long-standing The Voice UK legend will.i.am.
“ITV would like to thank the irreplaceable Sir Tom Jones for all his years on The Voice UK, and the countless incredible and unforgettable moments he gave the show. He has brought joy to audiences and to every singer who performed for him and with him.”
