East Oakland rapper and producer Ovrkast. will release his new album ‘STRIKING’ on October 9th via Brooklyn label three times LOUDER.
Preceded by recent singles ‘Wata’ (feat. Niontay), ‘Play This’ and ‘PANE’ (feat. Self Proclaimed Narcissist), ‘STRIKING’ serves as the follow-up to Ovrkast.’s breakthrough 2025 project ‘While The Iron Is Hot’.
On the 12-track collection, Ovrkast. pulls inspriation from Kendrick Lamar’s ‘DAMN’ and Jay-Z’s ‘4:44’, while retaining jazz-influenced, sample-heavy soundcore reminiscent of Madlib, J Dilla and Bay Area innovators.
Grant Lapointe, Like and string arranger Aaron Paris co-created the record with Ovrkast. which was initially envisioned as a expansion of ‘While The Iron Is Hot’ but grew it into a new project over a year and a half. It was refined at a week-long writing camp in Los Angeles with returning collaborators.
