UFC star Paddy Pimblett showed his true colours as he dined at one of Liverpool’s best-loved Indian restaurants on Friday, (September 4). The Huyton fighter is currently enjoying some time away from the cage after defeating Benoit Saint-Denis in July.
And on Friday, Paddy and a group of friends were spotted enjoying a meal at the restaurant, Holdi Woolton, before the 31-year-old stopped for pictures with staff. Speaking to the ECHO, manager Shakil Ahmed said that Paddy was very “down to earth” as he stopped for fans eager to get pictures.
Shakil said: “We had a little chat about his last fight and how he was training and how he had to put weight on, cut weight down, put weight on. It’s been a bit of a struggle. Obviously, he can’t have this type of food all the time because he’s on a strict diet, on a strict meal prep that he needs to do.
“So, it’s not somewhere that he can always go to, but when he does, he loves to come dining with us. He’s been with us a couple of times. I think he had the chicken tikka which comes on a sizzler and a side of masala sauce, which he absolutely loved. He also ordered some lamb chops which he was very complimentary of. He said they were brilliant.”
Despite Paddy’s rising fame, Shakil said that he couldn’t have been more accommodating to fans eagerly waiting to get their pictures taken with him.
He said: “He’s such a down to earth person. Even when he was getting up and all his mates had left, he stayed behind to get the pictures with the kids and parents. That just shows he’s taking the time out for his fans and appreciating them, it goes a long way. He’s very humble, very engaging and a very pleasant person to deal with.”
However, Paddy isn’t the only celebrity to have dined at the Woolton eatery. Shakil added: “We’ve had many guests like Anthony Gordon and Sean Dyche.
“We’ve recently also had Robbie Fowler. Harvey Elliott used to be a regular, he used to come about once or twice every few months with his family.”
Run by chef Rukon Kamaly and his family, Holdi operates as a chain with locations in Woolton, Rainford and Ellesmere Port. Opening in 2012 their Woolton restaurant quickly became a firm favourite with it being awarded Liverpool Lifestyle Awards best Indian restaurant in Liverpool in 2016 and 2017.
