Palworld lead worries Steam early access has “lost its meaning”: players treat it like “a normal game” and the program has been “abused for a lot of reasons”

A shift in gaming culture has undermined Steam’s early access program and stunted the perception of the games in it, worries Pocketpair and Palworld communications and publishing lead John Buckley.

Amidst Palworld’s 1.0 early access graduation, Buckley discusses the work-in-progress approach with GamesRadar+. He maintains that Pocketpair is “quite confident in early access in general” and, when it comes time to make a new big thing, the studio will surely choose early access again. But that’s despite what he sees as a big shift on Steam.
