The promo card drops with the second slate of 30th anniversary TCG products
The hyped release of the Pokémon Trading Card Game’s 30th anniversary set is nearly here, and fans intent on catching them all have one more item to add to the checklist. In addition to securing pre-orders, beating the overnight lines, and avoiding scalpers, dedicated fans may want to seek out a special Mewtwo card that won’t come in any of the standard 30th anniversary products.
The Mewtwo promo card is illustrated by an artist called Nagisimo, and it’ll be available at these U.S. retailers:
- GameStop
- Best Buy
- Hot Topic
- Five Below
- Barnes & Noble
- Macy’s
- BoxLunch
To get it, you’ll need to spend at least $15 at any of those stores beginning on October 2, 2026. That’s the same day that the second batch of 30th anniversary products release, so you may be able to catch two Pidgey with one Poké Ball. The second slate of products includes Day and Night themed mini tins that house two packs, a sticker sheet, and an art card. If you collect enough tins, you may be able to spell the word “anniversary” with all the Unown in the background. October 2 is also release day for the official Booster Bundles with six packs — which many consider to be the best deal in the entire lineup.
As with any limited-time drop, you’ll want to plan early. During the 2026 Worlds promo, when select retailers gave out a San Francisco-themed Pikachu card, many participating stores ran out of cards quickly. Competition for this Mewtwo may be strongest at retailers like GameStop or Best Buy, as they are places where people may seek out the rest of the 30th anniversary products.
The broader set does include a Mewtwo card, but it’s a Future Rare card that will be difficult to source from a pack. The Nagisimo card may be the next best thing.
The first batch of 30th anniversary products releases on Sept. 16. Fans expect the release to be hectic; check with your local card shop about its release plan.
