Hayley Williams has been awfully busy touring this year, and she’s also carved out the time to launch Power Snatch, her unpredictable new side project with producer Daniel James. Since announcing their existence in January, Power Snatch have surprise-released two EPs and a couple of collabs with UK artist Tiberius b. They also covered This Is Lorelei’s “Perfect Hand” for the maga-deluxe version of Box For Buddy, Box For Stars. Today, Power Snatch drop another cover of a track from a different culty indie singer-songwriter.
Last year, the former bar italia member mark william lewis became the first artist to sign to A24 Music, the new record-label arm of the indie film distributor, and released his self-titled debut album. Next month, lewis will release a deluxe edition of that LP with a few bonus tracks, and one of them is Power Snatch’s big, bright, immersive take on lewis’ spindly, brooding, slow-building song “Spit.” There’s a real contrast between the two versions. The deluxe edition of mark william lewis is out 10/23 on A24 music, and it’ll also include the new song “Adrenaline,” a live version of “Ugly,” and a Mad Professor dub remix of “Petals.”
