Primark shoppers finally get the news they’ve been waiting for

Primark has finally confirmed plans to introduce home delivery in Great Britain, but shoppers hoping to have their next haul sent straight to their door will have to wait a little longer

Primark shoppers will soon have another way to get their favourite clothes and homeware, but home delivery isn’t available just yet. The retailer has confirmed it plans to introduce home delivery in Great Britain, giving customers another way to shop beyond its stores.

The announcement will be welcome news for Primark fans who have long wanted to order their clothes, accessories and homeware online and have them sent directly to their door. But for shoppers wondering whether they can get a Primark delivery right now, the answer is slightly different.

Associated British Foods (ABF), which also heads up food, sugar and agriculture businesses, revealed it has acquired a new warehouse in Sheffield to support the initiative. ABF’s chief executive George Weston said: “Our priority focus areas, the UK and womenswear, continued to outperform our other markets and categories.

“Primark has made significant progress in building its digital capabilities and will continue this through both growing click & collect and by offering home delivery in Great Britain in the future. There is now an opportunity for incremental and profitable growth through this channel.”

Here’s everything you need to know about the new service:

Does Primark deliver to your home?

No — not yet. Primark has confirmed it plans to introduce home delivery in Great Britain, but the service has not launched yet. The retailer said its decision comes as shopping habits and expectations around online retail have changed, while the success of its Click & Collect service has given it confidence to offer customers more choice.

Primark has not yet announced a launch date or provided full details of how the future delivery service will work.

Can you order Primark clothes online?

Yes, but currently you need to collect them from a store. Primark’s Click & Collect service is now available in all stores across Great Britain.

Customers can browse a selection of Primark’s ranges online, add items to their basket and choose a store and collection day. Orders can then be picked up from the dedicated Click & Collect point in store.

The service covers a wide range of women’s, men’s, kids’, baby and home products, with more than 5,000 products available through Click & Collect according to Primark’s current information.

Can you Click & Collect Primark homeware?

Yes. Homeware is included in Primark’s Click & Collect service, meaning shoppers can browse and order selected items online before collecting them from their chosen store.

The current online range includes items such as bedding, cushions, storage, luggage, kitchen and dining products and decorative accessories. So if you’ve spotted a Primark homeware item online, you don’t necessarily have to rely on finding it on the shelves when you visit your local branch.

How does Primark Click & Collect work?

It’s relatively straightforward.

  • Browse Primark’s website and select products available through Click & Collect.
  • Choose your store and add your chosen items to your basket.
  • Select a collection day at checkout.
  • Wait for confirmation that your order is ready.
  • Collect it from your chosen Primark store.

Primark says customers are notified by email and text when their order is ready. Click & Collect is currently available at all Primark stores across Great Britain.

When will Primark start home delivery?

A launch date has not yet been announced. Primark’s announcement on Thursday, September 10, confirmed the decision to introduce home delivery in Great Britain, but stopped short of saying exactly when shoppers will be able to use the service.

That means customers cannot currently place a normal Primark online order and have it delivered to their home. For now, Click & Collect remains the way to order Primark products online.

What will Primark delivery include?

Primark has not yet published full details of the future home-delivery service, so it is too early to say exactly which products will be available, how much delivery will cost or how quickly orders will arrive.

For now, shoppers can browse Primark’s online ranges and use Click & Collect for selected products. The retailer has stressed that its stores will remain central to the business, with home delivery intended to give customers more choice in how they shop.
