Prince William is reportedly sharing different bits of sensitive information with different people. A royal source told Radar Online, “William has become exceptionally cautious about the information circulating around him.”
The source added that this “isn’t necessarily about believing there is some coordinated network of people secretly reporting to Harry.” But William knows “his brother spent decades within the institution and retains personal relationships with people across royal life. His concern is that information can move informally through conversations and eventually reach somebody it was never intended for.”
The insider continued, “That has created an atmosphere of suspicion.” William reportedly wants to protect Kate Middleton and their children. So, he is becoming more careful about who he allows into their close circle.
This came after Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and their children returned to Britain on August 26, after six years in the U.S. The family planned to stay there for an extended period. Another Palace source dismissed the idea that Harry has secret informants as “absurd.”

The source shared, “The problem is that trust between the brothers has deteriorated so dramatically that perfectly ordinary contact can now be interpreted as something suspicious. William is testing the waters by trying to use disinformation to plug any leaks, as there are still fears Harry has palace ‘spies’ at work for him.”
Harry and Markle stepped back from working royal duties in 2020 as they sought more financial independence. Since then, their relationship with the family has suffered. During the March 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Markle said she had asked the institution for help when she was struggling.
She said, “I went to the institution and I said that I needed to go somewhere to get help … And I was told that I couldn’t.” Harry also said, “I was trapped but I didn’t know I was trapped. Like the rest of my family are, my father and my brother, they are trapped.”
In December 2022, the pair discussed the family rift in their Netflix series Harry & Meghan. Harry spoke about the January 2020 meeting over their plans to step back from royal duties. He said, “It was terrifying to have my brother scream and shout at me, and my father say things that just simply weren’t true, and my grandmother quietly sit there and sort of take it all in.”
Harry also accused the royal household of leaking stories. He added, “It is a dirty game. There’s leaking but there’s also planting of stories.” He then explained how the rift with William changed their relationship.
“The saddest part of it was this wedge created between myself and my brother so he is now on the institution side.” Harry took these claims further in his 2023 memoir, Spare. He wrote about a 2019 argument with William at Nottingham Cottage. Harry noted William called Markle “difficult,” “rude,” and “abrasive.”
Harry then claimed William “grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and … knocked me to the floor.” Harry later discussed the alleged fight with Anderson Cooper on CBS’ 60 Minutes. He said William “snapped” and “pushed me to the floor.” Harry, however, revealed that William later apologized.
