Prince William could reportedly strip Prince Harry and Meghan Markle of their titles one day. “I don’t think Charles will strip the titles,” Mark Dolan told Daily Express host JJ Anisiobi. “I think William will, and it’s going to be ugly.”
A source claimed William was “instrumental” in a recent letter about Harry and Markle’s status. On September 7, King Charles ordered Lord Chamberlain to send the letter after the couple returned to Britain. The message was pretty clear that Harry and Markle are still non-working royals.
It described them as “akin to private citizens with commercial and charitable interests.” Their Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles, though, remain. The source claimed William saw the letter as a win.
“He’s taken it as a big win and it’s given him hope that his father might finally be seeing this more clearly,” they said. The insider also claimed, “William is not going to stop pushing until the King agrees to take away their titles.” Dolan then shared his take on what could happen next.
“Harry and Meghan will weaponise any attempts to strip them of their titles because their whole grift is that they are victims,” he said. “But as long as they are Duke and Duchess of Sussex, they can pretend to be royal, and that’s a problem for the family and it’s a problem for the monarchy.”
For now, nothing has changed. Harry and Markle still have their Sussex titles. However, their relationship with William is still strained. The brothers are reportedly not on good terms since the Sussexes left royal duties in 2020.
Harry later talked about their fallout in his 2023 tell-all, Spare. He claimed William grabbed him by the collar during a 2019 argument and knocked him to the floor. Harry said he landed on a dog bowl, which broke and left cuts on his back.
Meanwhile, since their return, Harry and Markle have also run into more security problems in Britain. Their kids, Archie and Lilibet, left their first-choice school after only two days in September. Heavy traffic made things harder for their private security team. Their convoy reportedly struggled during the school run.
The children then moved to another school. But the security concerns didn’t stop there. Two international photographers were reportedly spotted near Archie and Lilibet’s new school.
According to ITV News, insiders said the men were “scouting out” the school. One source also claimed they had been “doing reconnaissance” from the white van for “a number of hours.” The van was later checked by police and found to be a rental.
Harry and Markle’s spokesperson called the move “extraordinarily reckless.” The couple is also waiting to see what happens with their publicly funded security in Britain. RAVEC is reviewing their security arrangements after their return to the U.K.
Meanwhile, things reportedly got even more chaotic between William and Harry after Charles Spencer’s memoir about Princess Diana came out. One tipster told HeatWorld that William was “furious.” He believed Harry already knew about Swan Song: Diana, My Sister, but never gave him or Charles a heads-up.
The source also claimed William had labeled Harry a “rotten apple.” However, Spencer told People that he told William and Harry about the book at exactly the same time. He also added that Harry was “completely fine” with it.
