Lots of new PS5 games are about to be added to PlayStation Plus Extra, alongside a retro classic or two for PS Plus Premium subscribers. The next wave of PlayStation Plus Extra games will be officially announced by Sony on the afternoon of September 9. Of course, not all of the games will be playable on September 9, but will instead be staggered throughout the rest of the month.

Thanks to a recent State of Play event, we do know one of the games coming to PS Plus Premium, with Mega Man X: Command Mission joining the Classics Catalog in September. Sony also announced Mycopunk for PS Plus Extra, although the popular looter shooter is expected to join the line-up in October.

Without any leaks or confirmed PS Plus Extra games for September, fans have taken to Reddit to lay down some predictions in the run up to the big reveal.

One of the most popular picks by PS Plus Extra subscribers is Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, which would be a fantastic addition to the games catalog.

The action role-playing game is the second title in the Final Fantasy 7 remake trilogy. Unlike its somewhat linear predecessor, Rebirth features a massive open-world for players to explore.

It’s likely the game is being heavily tipped following last week’s State of Play event, which saw upcoming sequel Final Fantasy 7 Revelation receive a new trailer and gameplay details.

Fans believe FF7 Rebirth will join PS Plus Extra to further build hype for Revelation ahead of its 2027 release.

It’s for similar reasons that Silent Hill f features heavily in the predictions thread, as fans speculate that it will help promote the upcoming release of Silent Hill Townfall.

Other games with plenty of picks include Horizon Forbidden West, RoboCop Rogue City, Dragon’s Dogma 2, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii.

First-party platformer Astro Bot continues to feature in the thead, alongside Stellar Blade, Atomic Heart, Hades and Resident Evil 4 Remake.

Other fans are hopeful that Gran Turismo 7 could make an appearance, while some optimists are holding out hope for Metaphor ReFantazio and Hollow Knight Silksong.

There are also an increasing number of picks for Mafia: The Old Country, so fingers crossed on that one.
