A Leicestershire village pub could be saved from closure.
The Langton Inn Table Table, next to the Premier Inn hotel off the A6, near West Langton, previously announced it would be closing as part of the company’s restructure plans.
The site’s owner, Whitbread, previously stated that the closure was one of almost 200 restaurant sites across the UK and Ireland affected by the company’s restructuring programme, which could leave around 4,000 jobs at risk.
Since the closure announcement, Whitbread said it has agreed to conditionally sell 53 branded restaurant sites to Queensway Inns, including The Langton Inn Table Table, subject to a number of final conditions being met.
Whitbread also stated that once the sale is completed, staff at the site could be transferred over to the new pub and will be supported through the process.
A Whitbread spokesperson said: “Whitbread has reached an agreement for the conditional sale of 53 Branded Restaurant sites to Queensway Inns, subject to a number of final conditions being met.
“Queensway Inns has extensive experience operating hospitality businesses across the UK and intends to operate the sites as going concerns.
“Subject to completion of the sale and following the relevant TUPE information and consultation processes, around 900 team members could transfer and will be supported through the process.”
Whitbread said the proposed sale represents further progress on its Accelerating Growth Plan, first announced in April 2024.
The company announced in April 2026 that it was proposing to extend the programme to include all remaining branded restaurants, while adding 3,600 new Premier Inn hotel rooms in locations with strong demand.
The plans include creating new Premier Inn restaurants inside hotels, a format already operating in more than half of Premier Inn’s hotels.
