It’ll be the only place Pulp fans can get their hands on an exclusive T-shirt

Iconic British music band Pulp have announced they will be opening a pop-up pub in Manchester this week to coincide with their big Wythenshawe Park gig.
The Jarvis Cocker-led group, who are behind hits like Common People and Disco 2000, will play the south Manchester park on Friday night (August 28) with support from Self Esteem and Seb Lowe. This week, Wythenshawe Park will also feature big shows from Courteeners on Saturday, and The Prodigy on Sunday.
Over the weekend, from Friday to Sunday (August 28 to 30), Pulp will take over the Rat & Pigeon pub, on Back Piccadilly, with their very own themed Pulp Pop-Up Pub. The fan experience will include giveaway competitions and will also feature a jukebox playlist curated by Jarvis himself.

The venue will also be decked out with rare Pulp merchandise, costumes and props that have been borrowed exclusively from the band’s treasure-trove archive. There will also be a limited edition Wythenshawe Park T-shirt available to buy, which will only be sold at the pub over the weekend.
Announcing the pop-up, the band posted on social media: “Let’s all meet up… in Manchester. Pulp will be taking over the Rat & Pigeon pub in Manchester between the 28th and 30th August, to coincide with their sold out headline show in the city this Friday 28th August.
“Patrons of “Pulp Pop-Up Pub” can expect a jukebox programmed by Jarvis himself and Pulp-themed events, while the venue will be decked out in rare Pulp paraphernalia borrowed for the weekend from the band’s archive.”
The pop-up will be open from 12pm to 7pm on Friday, and 12pm until ‘late’ on Saturday. It will then open for just two hours on Sunday, between 12pm and 2pm. In addition, there will also be extra giveaways at Northern Quarter vinyl store Piccadilly Records over the weekend.
Fans responded to the announcement to share their excitement for the pop-up. One person said: “I’m not missing out on the exclusive Wythenshawe Tee… see you at 12 on Friday!!” Another person wrote: “I’m so excited! Limited Edition T-shirt and I will definitely be wearing this T-shirt at Wythenshawe Park in the evening!”
The Sheffield-based band formed in 1978 and have gone on to have a huge impact on the British music scene. Having released eight studio albums to date, including 2025’s More, they headlined Glastonbury last year.
Meanwhile, the Rat & Pigeon opened in 2024 in the former home of Mother Mary’s, which had closed its doors after a number of years back in 2022. The pub building has served as a public house since as far back as the 1870s.
