Rajinikanth’s ‘Jailer 2’ makers unveil SJ Suryah and Suraj Venjaramoodu’s characters

The makers of Tamil superstar Rajinikanth’s much-awaited film, Jailer 2, introduced the characters played by SJ Suryah and Suraj Venjaramoodu through character introduction videos. Directed by Nelson, the sequel film is set to release in theatres on October 15.

Sun Pictures, the banner backing the film, unveiled the promos on their YouTube channel. The first video introduced Suraj Venjaramoodu as Dileep, a dreaded gangster whose gang of men, he says, will even lay down their lives for him.

SJ Suryah, meanwhile, plays the stylish Bodhi Kalpak, who sports a clean-shaven look and a suave demeanour. Details regarding the plot remain unknown. More updates regarding the rest of the cast are expected to be announced soon.

Jailer, Nelson’s first collaboration with Rajinikanth, was released on August 10, 2023. The film, with memorable cameos from Shivarajkumar and Mohanlal, went on to become the highest-grossing Tamil film of the year. Vinayakan played a fiery antagonist in the movie.

The film had an ensemble cast featuring Ramya Krishnan, Tamannaah, Vasanth Ravi, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa Menon and Sunil, with cameos by Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, Jackie Shroff, Kishore and Makarand Deshpande. Many actors from this cast are expected to return in the sequel.

Music composer Anirudh Ravichander, cinematographer Vijay Kartik Kannan and editor R Nirmal have returned for the sequel.
