Ranabaali director Rahul Sankrityan gets trolled for ‘electricity’ comment – Telugu Cinema

Ranabaali director and Vijay Deverakonda

The promotions for “Ranabaali”, starring Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna, are in full swing. The lead actors have been participating in a series of interviews as part of the film’s publicity campaign.

In one of the interviews, director Rahul Sankrityan reportedly said that if electricity had not been invented, humans might have been better off in terms of their sleeping patterns and overall health. He suggested that the arrival of electricity has had an adverse impact on human health in several ways.

The comment has now attracted trolling on social media. Some users pointed out that had electricity never been invented, there would be no cinema theatres either, and Rahul Sankrityan and Vijay Deverakonda would not have been part of the film industry. Some went a step further, jokingly appealing to electricity boards to cut power supply to theatres screening “Ranabaali”.

These days, social media users are dissecting almost every statement made by celebrities, especially during film promotions. A casual remark can quickly become a talking point and, in some cases, turn into negative publicity for a film.

The “Ranabaali” team may therefore need to be a little more careful with its promotional conversations. Vijay Deverakonda is looking for a strong comeback with this film, and he has often found himself at the centre of social media discussions over his statements during previous releases.
