Red Velvet Share Mini Album ‘Velvet Summer’ | News

Red Velvet have released their new mini album, ‘Velvet Summer’, out via SM Entertainment.

The five-track seasonal project arrives two years after the group’s 2024 release ‘Cosmic’. It taps into a more expansive palette of sounds and textures, including bossa nova, reggae, dance-pop, classical and acoustic influences while honouring the group’s synergy.

JOY, who has continued to grow as a songwriter through her solo work, served as the sole lyricist for both ‘Surfin’ Boy’ and ‘Hawaii’, bringing a more personal touch to the mini-album.

Over a decade in the game, Red Velvet have emerged as one of K-pop’s defining acts with hits like ‘Bad Boy’, ‘Ice Cream Cake’, ‘Russian Roulette’, ‘Red Flavor’ and ‘Psycho’. With ‘Velvet Summer’, the group builds on that legacy with a cerebral and elevated take on their signature sound.

Coinciding with the release, Red Velvet share a video for ‘Surfin’ Boy’ – a whimsical dance-pop number blending mellow bossa nova guitar and languid reggae rhythms with a sleek house groove.

Tune in now.
