Richard Arnold has confirmed he has married his partner of 23 years in a low-key wedding in London over the weekend.
The Good Morning Britain (GMB) star, 56, initially caused confusion as he posted a snap of himself and rarely-seen partner Stuart on Instagram on Saturday, with many believing it was an engagement announcement.
In another photo, the couple’s beloved Cockapoo, Clementine, took part in the celebrations wearing a bow that read ‘I do too’.
However, Richard cleared up the confusion during his presenting slot on Monday’s show and told how he and Stuart had actually tied the knot on Friday, with the reporter having stolen his kilt from the prop cupboard.
Speaking to hosts Kate Garraway and Ed Balls, Richard confirmed that he and his long-term partner exchanged vows at Hackney Town Hall, with the star informing his mother of the nuptials only hours before the ceremony.
As Ed and Kate introduced the showbiz segment, they shared their congratulations to Richard amid his happy news, with the presenter remarking: ‘I got spliced!’

He went on to apologise for the confusion after he added an engagement ring emoji with his Instagram post which led many to believe he had got engaged, with Richard quipping: ‘This is why middle-aged men should put their phones down!’
He went on to refer to Stuart as his husband with a giddy Kate asking whether that’s the first time he’s addressed Stuart as such, with Richard replying: ‘It is actually, out loud – well certainly sober anyway!’
Explaining how the wedding was a low-key affair, Richard told how he’d left Good Morning Britain on Friday, hopped on a bike and picked up some booze from a local wine shop before heading to his mother’s house to tell her he was getting married.
He told how his mother said “good for you!” as he broke the news, before explaining how she’s not in the best of health at the moment.
Richard went on to say that his wedding was so ‘low-key, non-fussed’ that he borrowed his kilt and bright pink sporran from the show’s prop cupboard, noting: ‘That’s how bad I am at organising things!’

Richard has always kept his private life under wraps and has rarely posted any photos of him and Stuart.
The pair have been together since the early noughties and live together with their pet pooch Clementine in London.
The telly star does sometimes mention him while live on air in the GMB studio though.
Back in August he confessed that they had had an argument before he went to work.
Telling his co-stars Kate Garraway and Adil Ray, he said: ‘My other half and I have fallen out over a shower attachment!’
His confession left the pair in hysterics.
In 2024, Richard also opened up about his relationship, admitting that he would like to tie the knot soon.
Richard previously said: ‘We’ve been together for 19 years now my partner and I, it feels like five minutes, under water.’
He added: ‘Still no ring on my finger, but I’m waiting.’
Richard first found fame when he joined GMTV as its TV critic in 1997.
He later landed the Entertainment Editor role on GMB when the show originally launched on ITV in 2014.
