Richard Hammond has addressed the possibility of reuniting with Jeremy Clarkson and James May, offering a revealing response about what the future could hold

Richard Hammond has given his verdict on whether he, Jeremy Clarkson and James May could reunite for another motoring show after their time together on The Grand Tour came to an end.
The presenter has remained close to his former co-stars despite the trio going their separate ways professionally, with Hammond and Clarkson continuing to feature in each other’s videos.
But a recent gesture involving a very expensive Porsche has once again raised questions about whether the three could ever get back behind the wheel together.
Speaking to The Sunday Times, Hammond was asked about the possibility of the trio reuniting.
“It’s unlikely because we’re all flat out. But hey, I mean, why not, yes, of course. The future is the future. We don’t know. We’re not there yet.”
The comments come after Hammond dropped off a £1 million Porsche for Clarkson to test at his Farmer’s Dog pub in Oxfordshire last month.
Hammond has also previously visited May’s Wiltshire pub, with footage of the pair’s meeting attracting seven million views.
While a full-scale reunion appears unlikely for now, Hammond continues to see both Clarkson and May, either to make videos together or exchange test cars.
His life has changed considerably since The Grand Tour ended, however.
In 2024, Hammond’s father died, his 20-year professional partnership with Clarkson and May came to an end, and his 23-year marriage to Mindy broke down in quick succession.
Reflecting on that period, Hammond admitted he had wanted to retreat from the world.
“It wasn’t a brilliant time. But these are the things that come to us in our fifties, aren’t they?”
Hammond has since carved out a new chapter for himself. He regularly sees his daughters, while his solo motoring show has been attracting viewers and his car restoration company, The Smallest Cog, continues to build momentum.
Meanwhile, Clarkson has had his own difficult year after revealing he was diagnosed with “aggressive” prostate cancer, which was caught early.
The former Top Gear star later told The Sunday Times that a PSA test in April had shown no indication of cancer and that he is now in remission.
Clarkson has also been dealing with a more unusual problem at his Diddly Squat farm, after claiming 11 sheep had been stolen.
He told The Sun the animals were worth more than £2,000 at market and said he was concerned more sheep could have disappeared from other fields.
“The police have been very good, actually.”
Clarkson said the animals appeared to have been taken at night or when filming for Clarkson’s Farm was not taking place.
He added: “It’s a farm. We’re armed. Just so they know.”
On Wednesday, Clarkson appeared at the premiere of the latest series of Prime Video motoring show The Grand Tour. The series will see three new presenters – Francis Bourgeois, Thomas Holland and James Englesman – take over from Clarkson, May and Hammond.
