A riveting trailer has been released for the Norwegian family drama Fjord, starring Sebastian Stan, Renate Reinsve, Lisa Carlehed, Henrikke Lund-Olsen, Vanessa Ceban, Jonathan Ciprian Breazu, Ellen Dorrit Petersen, Lisa Loven Kongsli, and Markus Tønseth.
The film is written and directed by Romanian filmmaker Cristian Mungiu (Occident, Tales from the Golden Age, Beyond the Hills).
The synopsis reads: “From two-time Cannes Film Festival Palme d’Or winner Cristian Mungiu – a Norwegian woman and her devout Romanian husband (Sebastian Stan & Renate Reinsve) relocate with their 5 children to a remote, close-knit, coastal town.
“Their teen children form a fast bond with another neighboring family as unease begins to simmer around their rigid beliefs. When allegations of abuse emerge, they are forced to confront a system of judgment that blurs the line between concern and prejudice.”
This looks like a story that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats. The film premiered at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Palme d’Or. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see it among the nominations at the next Academy Awards.
