Say Goodbye to Apple TV’s Streaming Prices as Tech Giant Announces New Price Changes

In the last decade, multiple studios joined the streaming war and created their own streaming platforms to compete with Netflix. While Apple Studios has still to cement its place as a theatrical force, Apple TV is one of the best.

After celebrating success with shows like Widow’s Bay, Ted Lasso, Pluribus, and The Studio, all of which boast multiple Emmy Awards nominations, Apple TV is joining other streaming platforms in raising its prices. The price change is effective immediately starting Aug. 28 for new and existing subscribers.

So far, an Apple TV subscription costs $12.99, but, after the new change, it will cost two bucks more, for a monthly fee of $14.99. The annual price saw a hike as week, and will cost $119, up from $99. This price already applies to new subscribers, but existing subscribers will be notified approximately one month prior to being charged the new price, according to Apple.

This continues a frustrating trend, as Apple TV has raised is prices four times in the four years since it debuted. The new monthly fee is now three times the cost of its 2019 launch, which was $4.99.

Apple TV is not the only Apple subscription affected, as the tech company is increasing the price of the individual tier of Apple One — the discounted bundle with Apple TV, Apple Music, iCloud+, Apple Arcade, Apple News+ and Apple Fitness+ — from $19.95 to $21.95 per month.

Apple TV has secured its place as one of the go-to streaming platforms for quality TV, and its 2026 Emmy Awards nominations prove it. This year, the streaming platform won a record 89 Emmy nods, with new horror hit Widow’s Bay leading the board with a whopping 19 nods, followed by the sci-fi drama Pluribus with 18. Other nominated shows included Foundation, Margo’s Got Money Troubles, Slow Horses, and Shrinking.

More Streaming Platforms Are Raising Prices

Nowadays, cable TV isn’t as powerful as it used to be, and it fades in front of all the streaming giants. This also comes with a caveat, as all streaming platforms are trying to provide the best user experience and the biggest catalogs, but with different price hikes to reflect quality. Apple TV’s new price increase follows other streaming platforms.

Earlier this year, Netflix announced the second price hike of 2026, and Peacock just announced its price hike earlier this month. Disney+ hasn’t announced one yet, but the streamer had shared its intention to merge with Hulu, and previously announced new price changes in the last quarter of the year.
