A Shark vacuum cleaner branded the ‘best for homes with pets’ is on sale with a big discount, but it’s selling fast. Homeowners looking to upgrade their vacuum to clean up after their furry friends can now save £90 on the Shark Classic Upright Pet Vacuum.
Shark says this model is its ‘best for homes with pets’ and it’s currently reduced from £239.99 to £149.99. It’s selling fast though, with SharkNinja flagging it as ‘in demand’ with ‘hundreds sold’ this week.
The same deal is available at Argos, while John Lewis charges a higher £159.99 (was £199.99). According to Shark, the Classic Upright Pet Vacuum is its lightest corded model with a liftaway feature at 5.6kg and can ‘effortlessly’ clean carpets, hard floors and stairs with two cleaning modes.
Its pod can be easily detached to transform into a portable vacuum ideal for tackling hard-to-reach areas like curtains and ceilings. For cleaning up after the cats and dogs, the included pet tool is designed with a bristle brush to remove embedded hair from carpets and upholstery.
The Shark vacuum can be switched from its hard floor and carpet modes at the press of a button, while the LED headlights built into the brushhead illuminate fine dust and dirt. It’s also said to be easy to manoeuvre thanks to its swivel steering and 8m power cord, while Shark says the anti-allergen seal can capture and trap 99.9% of dust and allergens.

The main thing to consider is that the Classic Upright Pet Vacuum is a corded model unlike many modern cordless vacuums. For those preferring the extra flexibility offered by cordless vacuums, Dyson has knocked £100 off its V8 Cyclone at £249.99 (was £349.99).
This is said to be Dyson’s most powerful V8 vacuum ever with 30% more suction than the original model. More affordable options are on sale at Amazon, where the Proscenic P20 Cordless Vacuum Cleaner with Mop is £139.98 (was £169.99) until August 24.
As for Shark’s Classic Upright Pet Vacuum, shoppers have awarded this a 4.3-star score after more than 1,500 reviews.
“What an amazingly effective vacuum cleaner,” one says. “I vacuumed the carpet with our existing machines and then with the Shark. The result was surprising and a bit gross; half filled with dog hair and dust. As it’s so powerful, the filter needs cleaning regularly, but a small price for the deeper level of cleaning.”
Another says: “Fabulous vacuum cleaner. It’s very powerful and easy to use the tools. Also easy to empty and rinse the filters, so there’ll be no horrible vacuum smell. I cleaned the car with it too, absolutely excellent.”
Others were more mixed, as this buyer said: “It’s very powerful [and] I like the fact you can detach the hose to get to the smaller areas. However, the [vacuum] does carry some weight to it and is not the easiest to use.”
While this five-star review says: “It’s a light machine with very good suction power even on the minimum setting. It’s also a lot easier to empty than the old Dyson I used to have. It’s well-designed, and an absolute breeze to use.”
