One person was taken into custody after Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to reports of shots fired at Miami International Airport on Wednesday afternoon, according to authorities.
The incident was reported at around 4:05 PM, prompting police activity at the airport. Miami International Airport officials said the departure levels from doors 12 to 17, along with the outer lanes of the departure-level roadway, were closed.
Traffic in and around the airport was diverted to the arrivals level as deputies responded to the scene. Authorities said the disruption could affect traffic around the airport.
All passengers and employees were reported safe, and no injuries were reported in connection with the incident.
Footage captured by 7Skyforce showed multiple police vehicles and officers at the airport as authorities responded to the reported shooting. Cameras later captured the road closure being lifted, with traffic moving through the affected area.
The airspace around the area was also closed to helicopters during the police response.
Authorities have not provided further details about the circumstances surrounding the reported shots fired or the person taken into custody.
