Manchester based Silver Tongued Rascals have shared new mixtape ‘FREE LIONS’.
Out now, the release is distributed by Launchpad+ and the mixtape epitomises the group’s subversive thrust, and their blend of pop-edged electronics with hip-hop.
Yorkshire natives who are now embedded in the Manchester scene, Silver Tongued Rascals have a political edge to their lyrics – think a Northern, unruly Gen Z take on Public Enemy and you’d be close.
Self-described as something that “epitomises the chat at after parties,” the group are aiming to foster connections.

‘FREE LIONS’ is about the things I see happening in society that I feel I need to speak up on.
We don’t want to be labelled as a protest band; we just make music to sum up the times and situations we see around us, offering a realm of understanding where it scales around injustices. It’s about raising awareness and information rather than just gestures, creating music that supports causes and champions equality while bringing people together rather than dividing us.
