The political heat over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls may be rising, but the BJP’s attention on Monday was on a different issue – Prime Minister Narendra Modi completing 25 years in public life. BJP president Nitin Nabin chaired a key meeting at the party headquarters with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to review the progress and preparations for the party’s month-long Seva Sankalp Abhiyan.

October 7 marks 25 years since PM Modi first took charge as Gujarat Chief Minister in 2001. The BJP is planning a series of programmes across the country to mark the milestone, with the party’s service-oriented outreach forming a key part of the celebrations.

The Seva Sankalp Abhiyan began on September 17, PM’s birthday, and will continue until October 17. The campaign includes blood donation and health camps, cleanliness and plantation drives, welfare outreach, exhibitions, youth programmes and other service-oriented activities.

The BJP has also planned Seva Jyoti Yatras across districts on October 7, with an emphasis on public participation and highlighting government welfare and development initiatives. The party had earlier announced a series of programmes involving youth, welfare-scheme beneficiaries and social media outreach as part of the campaign.

A national-level programme is also being planned in Delhi to mark the completion of PM Modi’s 25 years in public life.

According to reports, the event is expected to be held at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, with PM Modi likely to address party workers and supporters.

The BJP has projected PM’s 25-year journey as one that began with his tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister on October 7, 2001, and continued with his three terms as Prime Minister since 2014. Party president Nitin Nabin has described the campaign as an effort to take the message of public service to people across the country.

Monday’s meeting is therefore expected to focus on the final preparations for the October 7 programmes and the party’s broader outreach under the Seva Sankalp campaign.
