Sky Sports quietly raises its prices but some people can get it cheaper

The cost of a Sky Sports subscription has increased by almost 10% but the broadcaster is offering big discounts for select customers ahead of the Premier League’s return

Sky Sports has quietly raised its prices but there’s a way for some customers to get it cheaper. There’s just a week to go until the Premier League returns following the international break, but ahead of the next round of games we’ve spotted an increase in the cost of Sky’s flagship sport package.

Until last month, the broadcaster’s bundle of nine sport channels would cost £22 per month when existing customers added it to their Sky TV subscription. Now, this same package is £24, an increase of 9% worth £48 per year.

However, some people can get the same Sky Sports package cheaper if they pair it with a Sky Stream TV plan. When taken along with Sky’s £15 Essential TV bundle, Sky Sports works out at a much cheaper £20 for a total monthly cost of £35.

There’s a catch though, as this price is only available to new Sky customers and comes on a 24-month contract. The same £20 rate applies when adding Sky Sports to TV and broadband bundles like the £35 Essential TV and 900Mbps Full Fibre Gigafast Broadband, which currently comes with 12 times faster speeds (vs 75Mbps) for no extra cost.

Meanwhile, the £41 Ultimate TV and 900Mbps Full Fibre Gigafast Broadband also comes with HBO Max, Disney+ and Hayu. Sky is the home of the Premier League in the UK, with 80% of all televised games shown across its dedicated channels.

Sky’s Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle includes at least 215 live Premier League clashes across the 2026/27 season, with more than 1,500 games from the EFL and beyond, plus F1, golf and darts.

This introductory offer saves £384 compared to the standard price, with every package also providing 100 regular channels alongside free Netflix and discovery+ subscriptions.

These are part of around 1,500 matches to be shown this season alongside the EFL, Carabao Cup, WSL and Bundesliga. Across Sky’s nine sport channels are also every practice, qualifier and race from Formula 1, plus golf, tennis, cricket, darts and NFL.

Still to come this year is Man United vs Tottenham Hotspur (October 10) and Liverpool vs Man City (October 11), plus the Las Vegas Grand Prix (November 22) and the 2027 PDC World Darts Championship (December 11). With Netflix included in Sky’s TV bundles, customers can also watch the long-awaited Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua (December 11) at no extra cost.

Elsewhere, Virgin Media offers Sky Sports with its own Sport bundle, but this comes in at a higher £52.99. Virgin says this is the ‘lowest ever price’ for this package, which includes more than 200 channels, 516Mbps broadband and full Sky Sports coverage.

It’s worth remembering that neither Sky or Virgin broadcast UEFA Champions League or Europa League games, with TNT Sports and Amazon’s Prime Video holding the rights for these competitions. As for Sky, many customers have been sharing their experience with the brand on Trustpilot, where some have praised its ‘brilliant service’.

One says: “Joined Sky Stream, brilliant service and never had any problems. A lot has changed in 40 years when dishes had to be installed. Now done over WiFi.”

Another says: “Got a great deal for Sky Sports and broadband. We even got Disney+ and Netflix included. Saved so much money switching to Sky.”

Others reported drops in service from their broadband, as this reviewer said: “Recently joined Sky fibre broadband and Essential TV. The transfer went smoothly and was easy to set up. Unfortunately I am not very happy with my broadband which frequently drops out.”

While this customer said: “Engineer came out to upgrade our broadband, he was very polite and efficient and was very helpful and friendly.”
