Spider-Man: Triple H Just Made His Mark on Peter Parker’s Legacy, WWE Star Is ‘Incredibly Proud’

WWE icon Paul “Triple H” Levesque has officially entered comic book history. Following the release of Amazing Spider-Man #1000 on September 30, the executive and Hall of Famer made his writing debut for Marvel with an original short story titled “The Big Night,” illustrated by Ed McGuinness and Mark Farmer.

Triple H shared the comic’s cover art on social media to mark the release. He also congratulated Marvel while noting his contribution alongside the issue’s large group of creators.

In his post, he wrote, “Today marks a massive milestone for one of the most iconic characters in comics: AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #1000 is officially out. Incredibly proud to be part of this historic issue and contribute to the story alongside an unbelievable lineup of creators who have helped shape Spider-Man’s legacy. Congratulations to the @Marvel team.”

The special issue features a main story by Joe Kelly and Pepe Larraz. It also includes anniversary stories from Frank Miller, Brian Michael Bendis, Dan Slott, J.M. DeMatteis, and Noah Hawley.

Triple H’s Spider-Man story adds an unexpected twist to Amazing Spider-Man #1000

While wrestling fans might have expected the WWE legend to land a voice-acting or cameo role, Triple H took on a behind-the-scenes storytelling role. Co-written alongside WWE Director of Character Development Rob Fee, “The Big Night” reflects on the early bond between Peter Parker and Uncle Ben.

In the story, young Peter receives wrestling tickets from Uncle Ben. Ben uses the event to share advice about dealing with difficult moments. The story later connects that experience to Peter’s memories of his uncle.

Wrestling already has a place in Spider-Man’s origin story. Peter initially enters the ring to make money before Uncle Ben’s death changes his understanding of responsibility. He faces wrestler Bonesaw McGraw, a character later portrayed by Randy Savage in Sam Raimi’s 2002 Spider-Man.

The milestone issue also continues Peter’s current story through its main feature. Marvel’s anniversary release combines that ongoing storyline with additional tales celebrating different eras of Spider-Man’s history.
