Veteran actress Sumalatha Ambareesh, who has acted in several Telugu films including Chiranjeevi’s iconic Khaidi, is now leading a relatively quiet life in Bengaluru. She has also been a strong supporter of Kannada star Yash.
Following the underwhelming response to Yash’s latest pan-Indian film “Toxic,” Sumalatha took to social media to lend her support to the actor and praise his performance.
Sumalatha shared a post on Instagram, addressing Yash directly. She wrote, “My dear Yash, just watched Toxic and wanted to tell you this. I always knew you were fearless, and that you would choose to tread your own path rather than follow anyone else’s. But in this movie, what stood out for me above everything was you. Your performance was outstanding, truly mind-blowing.”
Speaking about Yash, Sumalatha described him as “one of the smartest and sanest people” and hoped that he would take the negative talk surrounding Toxic “with a pinch of salt.”
She also wondered whether “Toxic” was simply a film that was ahead of its time.
Directed by Geetu Mohandas, “Toxic” featured Yash in the lead role and was released as a pan-Indian film. Despite its scale and strong expectations, the film received mixed to negative reactions from audiences and critics.
