‘Compact but does the job well and great with laundry mode’
Shoppers looking for a cheaper way to tackle laundry as the weather turns colder can get a £70 heated clothes airer for less with a handy discount code. The Spring and Spruce Speedi Dry Winged Airer is now down to £44.99 from £69.99 on Yimbly – an online marketplace owned by this publication’s parent company, Reach PLC – when the code AUTUMN10 is used.
The dryer has impressed customers who say it ‘works a treat’, while costing an estimated 6p per hour to run. Designed to hold up to 15kg of wet laundry, the heated airer could come in handy during autumn and winter when drying clothes outside isn’t always an option.
It features 18 extra-wide heated bars that warm up to a maximum of 70°C within minutes, helping to dry everything from everyday clothes and knitwear to towels, bedding and shoes. Shoppers can adjust the temperature between 30°C and 70°C and set a timer for between one and nine hours, after which the airer automatically switches itself off.

The heated airer is said to cost as little as 6p to run, offering an energy efficient option for drying clothes.
It also comes with a heat-insulating cover designed to trap warmth and speed up drying, while protecting laundry from dust and pet hair. The lightweight airer folds flat for storage and its adjustable design makes room for longer items such as dresses, trousers, towels and bed sheets.
Alternatively, Argos has its Minky Wing 12m Heated Clothes Airer with Cover for £60. This one offers 12m of drying space and heats up to dry clothes without needing a tumble dryer. It can hold up to 16kg of laundry and gets to 42 degrees in 30 minutes.
Dunelm also has its Heated Ladder Airer for £40. This one costs approximately 2p per hour to run according to the website, and has heated bars to dry and warm towels in particular. It has an overall three metre drying space and is suitable for up to 5kg of washing.
The Spring and Spruce Speedi Dry Winged Airer has been rated highly on Yimbly, with one shopper writing: “Plentiful drying space and gets all my clothes dry in no time, especially this time of year. From ordering to delivery was prompt & received it within 3 days. Very easy to put together.”
Another added: “Really pleased with the dryer, it’s easy to use and works a treat.” Over on Amazon, another person said of the dryer: “Compact but does the job well and great with laundry mode. I would recommend it.”
On High Street TV, this shopper added: “Good amount of hanging space, nice for bed sheets and longer items. Best for lighter materials, underwear and thinner trousers. However, you can dry thicker materials, just take a bit longer and you will need to rotate them. Cost wise is cheaper than tumble dryer and heated fan systems. I dry my clothes in a variety of ways during these winter months, and this is my go-to airer for the majority of my laundry. I run a dehumidifier alongside it and find that it helps speed up the process. The cover is great as it helps keep the heat in. I would say best to use it in a warmer room (not like a garage or out house) as I think it would struggle in a cooler setting, but you can change the temperature.”
Some disagreed, saying: “Very good dryer, but a bit flimsy, but they’re probably all the same in weight. Pleased with the drying of clothes.” Another added: “It doesn’t dry clothes very fast, as I was thinking.”
