The Government of India has reconstituted the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with 18 members, bringing several prominent names from the Indian film and entertainment industry onto the board.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting announced the new board on Wednesday. The newly appointed members include actors Preity Zinta, Suniel Shetty, Roopali Ganguly, Pallavi Joshi, Pankaj Tripathi and Prosenjit Chatterjee, along with filmmaker Priyadarshan and other industry personalities.
rom the Telugu film industry, producer and actress Supriya Yarlagadda has been appointed as a member of the reconstituted board. Supriya has been associated with Annapurna Studios and has been involved in the production and business operations of the film production house.
The reconstituted CBFC board will function under chairperson Shashi Shekhar Vempati. The new board has been constituted with immediate effect and will remain in place for three years or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The CBFC is a statutory body under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and is responsible for certifying films for public exhibition in India.
