He has now carried that momentum forward with Vishwanath And Sons, which is currently running in theatres.
With the combined collections of these two films, Suriya has crossed the Rs 500 crore mark in worldwide gross collections in 2026.
Directed by RJ Balaji, Karuppu emerged as the biggest solo hit of Suriya’s career, grossing Rs 315 crore worldwide. Of this, Rs 233.85 crore came from India, while the overseas market contributed Rs 81.15 crore. The fantasy action entertainer enjoyed a strong six-week theatrical run and set the tone for a memorable year for the actor.
Meanwhile, Vishwanath And Sons has also performed strongly at the box office. In 12 days, the film has grossed Rs 124.49 crore in India and Rs 61 crore overseas, taking its worldwide gross to Rs 185.49 crore.
With positive word of mouth helping the film, it is expected to add more to its tally in the coming days.
Together, Karuppu and Vishwanath And Sons have collected Rs 500.49 crore worldwide in 2026, underlining Suriya’s remarkable box-office run this year.
With Vishwanath And Sons still performing well in theatres, the total is likely to rise further. After several ups and downs in recent years, delivering two major money-spinners in the same calendar year makes 2026 one of the strongest years of Suriya’s career.
