A Coventry restaurant has won £100,000 after being crowned Uber Eats UK Restaurant of the Year 2026.
Jinseon Korean BBQ was chosen from 45 nominated restaurants nationwide, impressing judges and the public with its Korean barbecue dishes, quality meats and traditional marinades.
The restaurant plans to put the prize money towards more of its distinctive grills, sourced exclusively from Korea, and expanding its delivery operation.
Managing director Ken Tsang said the win recognised the efforts of the team and the support of the local community.
He said: “Winning the Uber Eats UK Restaurant of the Year 2026 is a dream come true. This award isn’t just recognition for our food, but for the hard work of our whole team and the support of our community. The £100,000 prize will allow us to expand our business, and we can’t wait to take the next step in our journey.”
Comedian and podcaster Ed Gamble chaired the judging panel, which also included Seema Pankhania, Lorraine Copes, Merve Basci, Toby Inskip (Eating with Todd) and last year’s winner, Chris Riley from Silver’s Deli.
Gamble praised Jinseon’s flavours, authenticity and commitment to quality, and said he planned to visit when next performing in the area.
He said: “I can’t wait to see how this prize makes a difference for the business. Next time I’m touring in the Midlands, I’ll be heading straight into Jinseon Korean BBQ.”
Merve Basci, general manager of Uber Eats UK, said: “Jinseon Korean BBQ really stood out for their freshness, bold flavours, and attention to detail on their cooking techniques.”
Jinseon was one of nine national finalists who competed in London for the top award. Each finalist will also receive £5,000 for winning their regional round, along with marketing and business support from Uber Eats.
Coqfighter took the £25,000 runner-up prize, while The Nashville Cluck received £10,000 for third place. Those two prizes were introduced this year to mark Uber Eats’ 10th anniversary in the UK.
The awards, now in their fifth year, recognise small, independent restaurants. Hundreds of eateries are nominated each year, with public voting followed by judging by industry experts.
