‘Very comfortable’ Timberland clogs wearers ‘still feel great’ after ‘walking all day in’

‘It’s literally the perfect mix of Crocs meets Tims – super easy slip-on comfort like Crocs but with that iconic Timberland premium leather look and quality’

With the autumn equinox almost upon us and September well underway, many of us are getting ready to change our wardrobes over to combat the distinct chill in the air. With denim shackets swapped for puffer jackets, our footwear, too, needs an overhaul, replacing sandals and flip-flops with closed-toe styles that keep feet warm and comfortable.

While some of us struggle to fully let go of summer with trainers and boots, a clog offers a satisfying middle ground. These shoes are perfect for anyone who simply wants to slip something on and dash out of the door. Whether that is a fresher rushing to lectures or a school mum tackling the morning run – and anyone in between.

Timberland is a much-loved, iconic brand best known for its signature brown boots and celebrated for its quality, durability, and timeless style. Although we must admit, its clogs are an autumnal wardrobe staple, and one particular pair has been praised by shoppers for being ‘very comfortable’ and ‘super quality’.

The Timberland® Premium Convertible Clogs for Women, £120, are available in three colourways — yellow-tan brown, burgundy, and suede grey — and come in sizes 2.5 to 9. An excellent choice for students heading back to university who need footwear that’ll last well beyond their studies.

The shoes are crafted from Premium Timberland® leather and feature a ReBOTLTM fabric lining composed of 50% recycled PET plastic. They are also equipped with an anti-fatigue removable footbed, which the brand describes as: “A comfort system, adopted from Timberland PRO, designed with shock-absorbing, geometrical technology that returns energy back to the foot to deliver all-day support and comfort,” reports the Liverpool Echo.

The Timberland® Premium Convertible Clogs are available at Timberland.

Their design is quintessentially Timberland and echoes the aesthetic of the renowned Stone Street Platform 6-Inch Waterproof Boots (£170). The soft yet robust yellow leather upper and sturdy lug outsole are the telltale signs. While the clogs do not have laces, the style includes a darker trim around the footbed and an ankle strap that proves more adaptable than it initially appears.

It can be fastened around the ankle for a more secure fit or folded forward for a slider-style. In warmer weather, this makes them ideal to team with jorts or shorts, a light jumper, and tube socks.

When cooler temperatures arrive, they will complement barrel jeans, a chunky jumper and a gilet just as well.

This particular style offers a great alternative to options such as Dr Martens Zebzag Suede Casual Slingback Platform Mules, £115. They also boast an adjustable slingback strap that can be positioned around the ankle or across the foot.

With a contrasting suede texture, its chunky sole is both fashionable and supportive. Also proving a firm favourite among fashion enthusiasts is the Birkenstock Boston Clog, £110, reduced from £140, at Office Shoes.

While it lacks an ankle strap, it remains a widely sought-after option that exudes effortless elegance and is straightforward to slip on and off owing to its slider design. The downside of all three shoes is that they are crafted from suede, which is susceptible to damage in wet conditions and, depending on the shade, can get dirty easily.

Light-coloured nubuck is particularly prone to absorbing water stains, dirt, and oil, and requires considerably more than a quick wipe with soap and water. Timberland advises using a suede/nubuck dry-cleaning kit, a suede brush, and foaming cleaner (RenewbuckTM) to remove dirt without compromising the texture.

This detail did little to deter shoppers, though, who have heaped praise on the shoes, with numerous Timberland fans hailing just how ‘comfortable’ the clogs are. One customer noted in a five-star review: “Lovely clogs. Fit seems true to size. Comfortable.”

Another shopper added: “Well finished product, good quality leather and looks sturdy. They are very elegant for [clogs]. I’m wearing size 37 EU, but it was too tight. I had to take size 38 to be more comfortable and wear them with socks.”

Though they did raise one concern: “The back edge of the [clog] is a bit annoying because it’s slightly prominent and the heel of the foot tends to overlap on it, which will make walking uncomfortable at first. I hope that over time, this border will settle and become more flexible.”

Despite this, they concluded: “On the other hand, if the back strap is used, the heel is more supported and prevents support on this edge. They are very comfortable!”

Someone else remarked: “I can walk in these all day and my feet still feel great… They’re super comfortable right out of the box, and I love that I can wear them as a slip-on or with the strap up. They look great with everything.”

It is worth noting that some customers have found their usual size in these clogs to be a touch ‘snug’, leading them to opt for a size up. One four-star review read: “The shoe is great quality, but given a 4 as they’re slightly tight, not in width nor length, but in the overall inside height, which is snug. Otherwise, a great shoe, and hopefully I can stretch out. I’d still recommend, just get a slightly bigger size.”

While the sole of the clog is considered ‘heavy’, one buyer noted: “Definitely has a heavy sole, so I wouldn’t recommend it to someone looking for a lightweight clog. It’s very much a classic Timberland boot, but in the style of clogs, so the tops are leather and thick, which would be great during the fall or spring.”

Another shopper even described how the footwear perfectly bridges the gap between two iconic styles, saying: “It’s literally the perfect mix of Crocs meets Tims – super easy slip-on comfort like Crocs but with that iconic Timberland premium leather look and quality. I can wear them as a true backless clog for quick errands or flip the strap down for a secure fit.”
