‘Vishwanath and Sons’ crosses $2 Million: A first for Suriya in North America – Telugu Cinema

Vishwanath and Sons

“Vishwanath and Sons” has joined the $2 million club in North America, marking a first for Suriya. None of his previous films had crossed this milestone in the region.

Interestingly, it is the Telugu version that has driven the film’s impressive North American run. The Telugu version has grossed nearly $1.3 million, while the remaining amount has come from the Tamil version. Although the makers positioned “Vishwanath and Sons” as a Tamil film with a Telugu dubbed version, the Telugu version has emerged as the bigger contributor in North America, helping Suriya achieve his first $2 million film in the region.

Directed by Venky Atluri, “Vishwanath and Sons” is a family romance drama that deals with age-gap romance, surrogacy, and the emotional trauma experienced by a child after his father remarries. The emotional drama has connected more strongly with Telugu audiences compared to Tamil audiences.

The film now faces competition from Ravi Teja’s Irumudi, which is arriving in North American theatres today with premiere shows.

“Vishwanath and Sons” stars Mamitha Baiju as the female lead.
