Videos showing mysterious multi-coloured lights over Tehran have gone viral on social media, sparking speculation over whether the objects were drones, military aircraft or unidentified flying objects.
Several reports said LED lights displaying multiple flashing colours were recorded near the Azadegan Expressway in the Iranian capital on Sunday. However, there has been no official confirmation of the object’s speed, altitude, distance or size.
The videos emerged amid heightened tensions between the US and Iran, with Iran’s military issuing fresh warnings about potential attacks on US bases in the region. Unverified footage of the lights quickly spread across social media, fuelling speculation about what was seen in the Tehran sky.

The circulating clip appears to show bright LED lights attached to what looks like a low-flying craft. Some social media users speculated that the object could be military aircraft, while others suggested that several drones may have been flying in formation.
One user said, “It could be drones flying in formation,” while another questioned whether an unidentified aerial phenomenon would typically be seen with red, green and blue lights.
Trump issues fresh warning to Iranian leadership
The reports of the mysterious lights came as US President Donald Trump issued a fresh warning to Iran’s leadership.
Speaking to a Fox News reporter, Trump said: “Iran’s leaders should make a deal, rot economically, or be wiped out.”
Trump also said he would be open to meeting Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, who was expected to be in New York for the United Nations General Assembly.

Iran warns of retaliation against US
Iran has warned that it would respond harshly if the US launches further military strikes.
Iran’s military commander previously said that any new US aggression would trigger sustained retaliation against American bases and interests. The commander also said US regional allies would be considered parties to the conflict, according to Reuters as cited by The Indian Express.
Despite the speculation surrounding the Tehran videos, there has been no official confirmation that the lights were UFOs or that they represented a new military threat. The available reports only establish that unidentified, multi-coloured lights were recorded and circulated online.
